VOICE OF GOD—September 17, 2017—Bill Burns:

The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) begins at sundown next Wednesday.  It signals the beginning of a new season, and it is a time to position yourself by faith for that which is coming.

Faith Is (Amplified)

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality—faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.

Last week at the end of service I spoke of this verse.

The Feast of Trumpets—beginning or head of the year—is a time when there is an unfolding of revelation for the season.

It is a time when spiritual information comes to direct us both personally and corporately.  It is a set time in which God positions us to be equipped for the season that we are now entering into.

Psalm 102:13  You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favor her, yes, the set time has come.

Present Time

The Hebrew calendar reveals that this is the year 5778.  Five represents being covered by grace.  A double portion (77) symbolizes completion and perfection of God’s works among us. And, the meaning of number 8 is a time of new beginnings and of great blessings.

Today is 9.17.2017—two sevens of confirmation that we are continuing to live in the season of light that began in 2016.

Isaiah 60:1-2   Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.  For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.

1.       Shine—be enlightened by the light.

2.       Light—brightness, clarity, flood of light, morning light.

Revelation 22:16  "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star."

3.       Glory—brightness of His presence.  The result is revelation knowledge that comes from God.

2 Corinthians 4:6   For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

4.       Upon you!  So that the darkness of the earth doesn’t get on or in you.

5.       The purpose of grace is so you can live in His light

Isaiah 60:5a  Then you shall see and become radiant, And your heart shall swell with joy.

A Time of Self-Examination

God’s light will reveal the things in us that are hindrances to our ability to grow spiritually.

Small Straws (9/13):  There are still issues to be dealt with that have been weighing you down.  Now is a time when you can work to bring those concerns to a conclusion.  You need to be free from troubling and difficult matters before you can progress into the next spiritual season.  I will help you in your process of breaking free, says the Lord.

Ephesians 5:

13  But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

14  Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."

15  See then that you walk diligently, not as fools but as wise,

16  redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Redeem the time through self-examination and correction.

2 Corinthians 13:5  Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you are disqualified.

Galatians 6:4  But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

Acts 3:19  "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”

Romans 6:

11  Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

12  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

13  And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Ask for God’s help in the examination!

Spirit and Truth

John 4:23-24  "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Now is the hour for Christians to worship in spirit with the Spirit of Truth.

John 15:26  "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

John 16:13  "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

John 8:32   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Revelation 1:10  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet.

Small Straws (9/14):  To those who are true worshipers through real relationship with Me, I tell you that breakthrough it straight ahead.  The internal spiritual work that you have done will pay off.  What you have learned from the difficulties you have endured will be a great benefit in the coming days.  Be confident that I will be with you as you transition into better days, says the Lord.

Living and Moving in Spirit

Romans 8:5   For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

V13, 14   For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galatians 5:16  I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

V25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Creation waits for the revealing of the Sons of God.

Romans 8:

18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19  For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

21  because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22  For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Creation—sum of things created, i.e. the earth and mankind.

The earth groaning—unusual and adverse weather conditions—the climate groaning…

And, the Church as well!

Romans 8:

23  Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

24  For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

25  But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

We are to be ready!

Matthew 24:33

"So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!”

v 44  "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Matthew 24:31   "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Luke 21:

9  "But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."

10  Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

11  "And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

Luke 21:25   "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.””

Blood moons and the eclipse…

Luke 21:28  "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Feast of Trumpets

Trumpet—Voice of God!  (title)

Hosea 8:1  "Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come like an eagle against the house of the LORD, Because they have transgressed My covenant And rebelled against My law.”

The Voice of Blessing

Deuteronomy 28:2  "And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God.”

Psalm 29:3-4  The voice of the LORD is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The LORD is over many waters.  The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Psalm 119:105  Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

The Voice of God comes in the Prophetic Word…

1.       To inform us of that which He is doing

2.       To lead us

John 10:27  "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

3.       To enlighten us

Luke 2:32  “A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel."

Galatians 1:12  For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:17  that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Then, what has God said (so far)?

1.       I want you to live in the light of this season so that the darkness that is coming won’t get on you.

2.       Live in My light and examine yourself so you can be free (at liberty) and thus, free from fear and sin.

3.       Become a true worshiper—one who worships in spirit and truth.

4.       Listen for My voice.  I will speak to you in these days.

5.       Live in and walk with the Holy Spirit who will guide you through these perilous times and will empower you!

This is your right and destiny!

A season of light:

Isaiah 9:2  The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.

Isaiah 9:6-7   For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

2 Peter 1:

19  And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

20  knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,

21  for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

The Light is Jesus, and His voice informs, guides, and leads us into every new season.

The Trumpet (9/16):  Will yourself to me! If you have given yourself to Me then I have responsibility for you--to empower you by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Make that decision and give yourself into My care.  Place yourself under the provision of My kingdom to receive My blessings and power. Be steadfast; be strong; be wise. Don’t be deceived. Come to Me, and I will equip you and prepare you for the perilous times that you live in and the days of evil that are before you. I am the Most Holy One; the One who will keep you on the path of righteousness and in the power of My kingdom by which you overcome all the works of the enemy. Be one with Me, says the Lord. I’ve kept you for such a time as this so that you may fulfill your destiny.
