SUPERNATURAL AUTHORITY by BILL BURNS:

Supernatural authority is your legal right and ability to carry out God's purposes.  He gives us the authority to rule over the enemy and to rule over our spiritual atmosphere.

Luke 10:19  Behold I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

 To use this authority we must have faith in God's word, and speak accordingly.

Mark 16:17-18  And these signs will follow those who believe:  "In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

1 Corinthians 2:4  My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

We must exercise discernment in knowing when we are being used by God to deal with any situation, but especially when to bind or cast out demons.

Discerning of spirits is a gift of the Holy Spirit (found in 1 Corinthians 12:10).

Hebrews 5:14  Solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Philippians 1:9  And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.

How will we obtain the discernment that is required for these perilous times?  We have to cry out to God!

Proverbs 2:1-8 My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.

Jesus spoke about discerning the times we live in:

Luke 12:54-56  Then He also said to the multitudes, "Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?"

2 Timothy 3:1  But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.

Small Straws:  I see those whose hearts have become dull or even dead to life in the Spirit.  I call you forth from being spiritually deaf to hearing My voice.  I call you forth to life in the Spirit.  Shake yourself awake and arise to be alert and vibrant.  These are times that require your alertness and attention. You must learn to protect your spiritual and natural environment from chaos, confusion and division.  Come into a place of safety and refuse to get entangled with situations that steal your peace.  It is time to awaken to greater awareness, discernment and higher purpose.  You cannot move to this new spiritual level when you are still half asleep.  Quiet your soul and feel the moving of My Spirit.  Hear the sound of My voice and follow My leading.  You are on the threshold of a great awakening.

We have been given authority to rule over our spiritual atmosphere.

Isaiah 32:18  My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwelling, and in quiet resting places.

This is God's will for us.  But how do we accomplish this?

Refuse to allow Satan or his demons to be in our habitation.  Use the spiritual authority that has been given to guard us where we live and work. Establish a spiritual environment wherever you go by inviting God to dwell in and rule over your spiritual habitations.

Ephesians 2:22  You also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Psalm 91:1-7 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.

Do the work.

The authority and power of God has been given to us, but it is up to us to establish it in our lives and to keep our habitations free of demonic activity while seeking God's presence in our lives and atmosphere at all times!

2 Corinthians 3:17  Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.
