DIVINE POSITIONING – January 1, 2012 – Marsha Burns:

At the end of every year I go through a process of cleaning the office, purging the files, doing year-end reports, and gaining some perspective of where we are spiritually.  During this process a few days ago, I found and read an old journal that began in 2004 and ended in 2009.  There were six years of notes, which were very revealing and consistent with six being the number of man; God created man on the sixth day of creation.  (Genesis 1:27)

Those six years, at least in our church, were fraught with carnality -- offenses, division, strife, pride, presumption, and accusation.  With flesh ruling most of the time, it is a wonder that we were able to survive that long season and still have a measure the presence of God.  It was definitely a war of epic proportions.

Then, at the Feast of Trumpets in 2009, which set the stage for 2010 and 2011, the Lord said He was cleaning the foundation, and that we were no longer to tolerate the works of the flesh.

1 Corinthians 3:

11  For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12  Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

13  each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

14  If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

15  If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

16  Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

17  If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

The Lord instructed us to discontinue every program that had been a platform for fleshly activity.

Romans 13:14  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

We stopped hosting conferences and all other social events, and made a concerted effort to avoid any activity that could spawn disagreements and separation.  Most of us chose not to gossip or talk about others or to be put in a position of choosing sides in a conflict.

We set our hearts and minds to seek the Lord at any cost by any road.

In 2010 the Lord directed us to clean the church beginning with the sanctuary with tearing out the old wallpaper and having it painted.  It was interesting that we hadn’t noticed how dirty the church really was, and it was a sign of how dirty we had become when we were defiled by bitterness.

The whole body of Christ is affected when we allow flesh to rule in us, and our lack of unity has kept us from the fullness of God’s glory.

Hebrews 12:14-15   Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:  looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

The Lord had been speaking to us about the New Plateau, and we kept trying to reach that new spiritual level in the Spirit, but it took nearly two years for the church renovation to be complete inside and outside as a sign to us that we were ready to go higher.

I see the last two years and being transitional.  We have been particularly challenged to DO the Word—to earnestly take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ, and to refrain from anything that would allow condemnation to work in and against us.

Matthew 7:

24  "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

25  "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26  "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:

27  "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."

In short, it is all about walking in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

We have seen less conflict and more of the Spirit in the past two years than ever in our church history.  We have learned to pray the prayer of faith that does not violate anyone’s free will, and we have seen many, many healings and miracles.  The windows of heaven have opened to reveal more of God’s kingdom as well as more understanding of the kingdoms of darkness and our authority to overcome and gain the victory.

I believe that we are on that New Plateau, but it has now become base camp for the next leg of the journey.

What’s next?

In a vision I saw a wheel deep in the earth that was turned to bring about a shift so that we can be repositioned.  And, this is what the Lord said:

“I want you to be aware of a slight course correction as you enter the new year.  You may experience some confusion or have a sense of losing spiritual equilibrium.  This is because there has been a shift in the spirit realm that will require some adjustments.  All you have to do is find Me again, says the Lord.  Come into My presence and seek My face; then, you will realize that you just needed to focus more directly to be solid again.  This shift will also require that you leave behind all that has been a source remorse and regret.”

Exodus 15:13 You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.

As we continue to seek first the kingdom of God, it will be more about Him and less about us.

Matthew 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

John 3:30  He must increase, but I must decrease.

We are being divinely positioned to live more completely under God’s rule—divine government.

Ephesians 2:

19  Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

20  having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,

21  in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

22  in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

We pledge allegiance to the Lamb!  We are citizens in the kingdom of God.  And, we will have opportunities in the months ahead to make that a spiritual reality in our lives.

John 18:36a  Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world.”

Our religious concepts will give way to spiritual reality in ways we would not have expected.  We’ve heard and read the Word of God and have received it as truth, but now the spiritual kingdom will manifest in our natural realm in greater measure.

Words from the Lord for 2012:

The worldly concerns that have kept you in fear and bondage will now give way to the reality and substance of your faith to trust Me in all things.  For, I will direct your steps and be your rear guard.  I am with you to give wisdom and guidance in all things.

Rise up from the burden of despair that has rendered you hopeless and helpless.  Be done with the darkness of disappointment.  I say, arise to new heights of faith and hope.  You are not alone; I am with you to bring you through to victory.

Set a watch for situations that have the potential for rejection, offense, and division.  Yours is to be humble and to pursue the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  Then, trust Me to mend what has been fractured and to bring restoration and wholeness.   It is time for all flesh that causes division to be cut off.

I am releasing you from boredom and stagnation to be revitalized.  Shake yourself awake, and no longer be under the spell of spiritual slumber.  Then, you will sense a surge of new excitement and anticipation for what I will do in you and with you in the days ahead.

Position yourself for discovery.  Stay steady.  Keep your focus.  Don’t be afraid to allow My Spirit to take you to greater heights and to reveal what has been hidden.  Your new found sense of adventure will be delightful.

You are on the threshold of a new era in which you can begin again, says the Lord.  Isaiah 42:9  Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

1 Corinthians 2:9  But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
