WHAT IS DIVINE ORDER? by Marsha Burns:
Divine: Proceeding from God
Order: Lots of definitions, but one (as a noun) that fits here is
authoritative direction.
So, divine order is being directed by God.
Concepts relative to Divine Order:
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake
will find it.
Be willing to embrace God’s will and purposes above the lusts of the flesh.
Divine Order is divine government; God in control.
Divine Order is the flow of the Spirit as we yield to His guidance and
direction.
Divine Government is the Word (truth) active in our lives.
Divine Order is living in covenant power – right standing with God.
As much as we understanding this concept of God in control, many times when we
hear a message or think about order in our lives, we still think about cleaning
the garage.
And, the enemy would love to beat us up with the tangible things in our lives
being in disarray.
This is a perversion of the spiritual principle of order.
Another perversion of this principle is that the enemy wants us to believe that
coming to this New Plateau, which includes divine order, means that we have to
be more and more perfect – that not only does the garage need to be cleaned, but
God sits on His throne with a more exacting view of what we need to do to please
Him.
If we take this particular perverse view of our own lives, we will see God as a
task master with a precise list of those things in the natural that need to be
accomplished, and if we fail to do what we believe He has said to us, He will be
displeased. So we set up a series of hurdles that we need to jump every
day to make sure that we have pleased Him.
This perversion is the strongest in people whose earthly fathers were strict and
exacting, or those who don’t really know or understand the Father’s love for
them. They feel as though they have to prove their worthiness through
achievement and performance and earn God’s love. And, in order to come
higher their performance has to increase.
Because this is a perversion, the result is greater bondage as
self-consciousness and condemnation increases. This will wear you out!!!
I want us to come into the truth of this spiritual principle – Divine Order.
Jesus is the epitome of Divine Order:
Acts 10:38 "…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with
power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the
devil, for God was with Him.
Mark 1:
16 And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his
brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
17 Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers
of men."
18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of
Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.
20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in
the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.
He called people to be His disciples – to establish the Kingdom of God on the
earth.
Mark 1:
21 Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He
entered the synagogue and taught.
22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one
having authority, and not as the scribes.
He taught and brought truth.
Mark 1:
23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he
cried out,
24 saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?
Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are––the Holy One of God!"
25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"
26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud
voice, he came out of him.
27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves,
saying, "What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands
even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."
He cast out demons where He found them.
Mark 1:
28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around
Galilee.
29 Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the
house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him
about her at once.
31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately
the fever left her. And she served them.
32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick
and those who were demon–possessed.
33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door.
He brought healing where there was sickness and disease.
Mark 1:
34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out
many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He
went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
He prayed and stayed connected to the Father.
John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to
you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for
whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
John 5:30 "I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment
is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who
sent Me.
This is Divine Order!
When we go through life with a good measure of self-effort, we are most likely
not to even be available to hear the Father. When we serve God out
of a fear of failure, we’re out of order.
So the “coming up higher”, New Plateau, Divine Order stuff isn’t about how good
you are or how bad you are. It’s not about what you do; it’s about what
God is able to do through you. It’s about complete freedom from all
bondage – even the self-imposed bondage that comes through trying to please God
by proving your worth.
It IS about coming into rest.
Matthew 11: 28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and
I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
It IS about His work and our cooperation in yielding.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for
His good pleasure.
Divine Order is all about the moving of the Holy Spirit and being unencumbered
enough to hear His voice and being flexible enough to go with the flow.
Divine Order is trusting God to give you discernment, to lead, guide, direct,
protect, and give you wisdom.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your
own understanding.
Psalms 138:8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O
LORD, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands.
