WATCHMEN WHAT DO YOU SEE?  by BILL BURNS

 For three months now the Spirit of the Lord has been speaking to us about the fourth watch and the watchmen of this season.
 
I must, therefore, conclude that this is a very important subject, which the Lord would have us fully comprehend and embrace.
  
There is a changing of the guard from the night watchman to the morning watchman.
 
Isaiah 21:11 & 12  (in part)
Watchman, what of the night?  The watchman said, “The morning comes.”
 
The night is passing, and the light of the morning is coming.
The morning light of Christ is coming as the Morning Star (Revelation 22:16)
 
The Difference between the night watchman and the morning watchman is this:
The night watchman must learn to hear the slightest sound because it is dark and he cannot see the approaching enemy.
 
We have also been learning to hear the Lord so the enemy could be located and identified.
 
But now it is time to learn to see.  It is time to learn to sharpen one’s vision so that we are both hearing and seeing.  The morning light is coming so that we can see what the Lord is showing us.
 
The job of the watchman is to watch and see.  This has always been God’s plan for His watchmen.

 
Jeremiah 1:
11  Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see a branch of an almond tree."
12  Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word."
13  And the word of the LORD came to me the second time, saying, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a boiling pot, and it is facing away from the north."
14  Then the LORD said to me: "Out of the north calamity shall break forth On all the inhabitants of the land.
 
Joel 2:20  "But I will remove far from you the northern army, and will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, with his face toward the eastern sea and his back toward the western sea; his stench will come up, and his foul odor will rise, because he has done monstrous things."
 
The basket and bad fruit:
Jeremiah 24:2-3  One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs which could not be eaten, they were so bad.  Then the LORD said to me, "What do you see, Jeremiah?" And I said, "Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad."
 
Small Straws:  Woe to the people who call good evil and evil good.  There is gross perversion in the land and deception at every turn.  But you, My people, do not give yourselves to perversion and deception.  Seek truth in every circumstance and stand for what is pure and undefiled.  Raise the bar, set a standard, rise up to the next level of righteousness and integrity.  You are a people called by My name, says the Lord.  Live a life worthy of your calling.
 
On the wall!

Amos 7:7-8  Thus He showed me: Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand.  And the LORD said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said: "Behold, I am setting a plumb line In the midst of My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.
 
Amos 8:1-2  Thus the Lord GOD showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit.
And He said, "Amos, what do you see?" So I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the LORD said to me: "The end has come upon My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.
 
One day He will stop calling for us to come if we continue to have bad fruit.
 
Revelation 22:17  And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
 
The Golden Lampstand & Oil of This Season

Zechariah 4:
1  Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
2  And he said to me, "What do you see?" So I said, "I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.
3  "Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left."
4  So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, "What are these, my lord?"
5  Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord."
6  So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.
7  ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!"’"
8  Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
9  "The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.
10  For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth."
11  Then I answered and said to him, "What are these two olive trees––at the right of the lampstand and at its left?"
12  And I further answered and said to him, "What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?"
13  Then he answered me and said, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord."
14     So he said, "These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth."
 
V10  The eyes of the Lord.
 
The River of God

Ezekiel 47:
1  Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar.
2  He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side.
3  And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles.
4  Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist.
 
Ankles, knees, waist – night watches.
Fourth watch water – morning watches.
 
Ezekiel 47:5-6  Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.  He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river.
 
Have you seen this?  Do you understand this fourth watch anointing, and have you seen that it is the Lord that will bring you into this overflowing river?
 
The Most Compelling Question  that the Lord  is about to ask His watchmen is:  What do you see?  You have learned to hear, now you must learn to see, for without vision the people perish.  (Proverbs 29:18 KJV)
 
Acts 2:17  ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
18  And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
19  I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
 
Watchmen
It is time to take your position on the wall.  Be sober, vigilant, awake, alert, alive, focused, ready, strong, consistent, listening, looking, discerning, resting, flowing, moving.  Instant in season and out of season, position spiritually for whatever the moment requires, faithful, trusting, righteous, worthy, mighty in God.
 
The morning comes, and a new landscape is being revealed.  This is, if you have eyes to see.  The key to spiritual advancement in this season will be your ability to see, so I say, watch!
 
1 Thessalonians 5:5-6  You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.  Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
