Blessing – prosperity, bounty, benefit, provision, success. The flow – a continuing movement from one point to another.
I was thinking about a word from the Lord where He talked to me about being in the flow of the Holy Spirit like moving with the flow of a river. In seeking God, and He dropped this phrase in my heart – “blessing flow.”
I’ve been in places in my life where blessings did not flow, and I’ve been in times where I was in the blessing flow. What made the difference? Priorities Position Personal Responsibility
When blessings do not flow it is because we are out of order in one way or another. It could be because our focus is on ourselves, our own desires, selfish needs, fears, unwillingness to step out of our safe zone, lack of honesty or integrity, trying to get something for nothing, lack of generosity (either emotionally or physically), taking advantage of others or putting others at a disadvantage. One example that might exemplify this point is a person who gets a job, but only thinks about getting a paycheck instead of being a vital part of causing the business to prosper.
How do we get out of the cycle of poverty and begin get into the blessing flow?
Priorities: We need to get our priorities in order … put first things first. This includes developing a godly perspective. What is the most important?
Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Psalm 27:4-6 One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Position: We position ourselves in consecration, separation, sanctification, preparation, and faith.
Numbers 11:18 Then you shall say to the people, “Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying, ‘Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.’ Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you shall eat."
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Personal Responsibility: To sow good seed, and to be good stewards of what we are, what we have, and what we do. We must obey the word of God.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
It is God’s will that we prosper!
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Deuteronomy 28:8 The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My House, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.
Amen!
