One of the most frequently asked questions relates to whether these words are generic or specific. Do they apply corporately or personally? The answer is both! Taken together we are the Body of Christ, but we are members individually. 1Corinthians 12:26 says that when one member suffers, we all suffer. So, as the Lord speaks to the Body, of which we are members, He speaks to us individually as well. Conversely, when the enemy attacks the Body, all of the members are affected specifically; it is the same attack manifested differently in various situations and circumstances.

Another question that pops up regularly has to do with the title, "Small Straws in a Soft Wind." Where does it come from, and what does it mean? Consider John 3:8, "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." His word comes in a still, small voice and is ushered in by the wind of the Spirit. Unless you are very still, the word can float by so softly that it can go unnoticed. The picture always comes to mind of sitting quietly in the warm sunshine with a gentle breeze rustling your hair and brushing your cheek when a small blade of dried grass, a dandelion seed, or a golden leaf drifts by. Unless you are paying attention you could miss it. But just as it gently glides by, you reach out and pluck it out of the air. He wants us to enjoy the sunshine of His love and the Wind of His Spirit as we catch the small straw of His gentle voice.

There is no distance in the spirit. I am in the Bahamas and I can relate to the devotional everyday. It's like the wind blows it directly to me everytime! Thank you Bill and Marsha. I know that you are both divinely connected to the Holy Spirit because flesh and blood could not reveal these things to you. May God bless and keep you. Your devotional has been a tremendous blessing in my life, always a timely word!

A friend of mine sent me a small straw and as another of your members stated, it is amazing how these words hit me directly where I need them to hit. I am thankful for this ministry!

Hi. That was wonderfully put. I am very new to this site but not too sure what to do with it or how to use it... I'm not sure if that is silly or not, but if you could help out in that respect- well that would be great! Thanks :ugeek:

I have always wondered that myself. I have been reading the Small Straws and forwarding them to friends and family for almost four years. They have blessed and so many; thank you. Your explaination reminded me to listen, truly listen as God speaks to me and pay attention. For He is in everything around me. Thank you!

Beautiful_eyes,

What to do with the forum? How to use it?

These are great questions! The purpose of the FT111 Forum is to accommodate people who feel isolated from the Body of Christ and need to be connected in a more meaningful way through becoming an e-member of Faith Tabernacle. We actually don’t know how this will play out, but we’re willing to provide a place where people can (if they want to) get to know each other through the forum.

I am reminded of Ephesians 4:11-16 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head––Christ––from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

And … Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

So, it is up to each one of us to become an active member of the body by being available to the Holy Spirit to build up and add to the strength of the whole body as we are led. In other words, what do we have that will edify and encourage ourselves and others to keep eternal perspective?

We have selected our forum topics according to what we offer in Faith Tabernacle church in Kremmling, Colorado. For instance, in Friday Night Insights, we have asked people to seek the Lord with us on Friday nights and to share visions, words of knowledge and words of wisdom, prophetic enactments … whatever the Lord gives that would bring clarity to what He is doing currently to move us forward in His purposes.

In the Encouragement forum, I can envision this as sharing testimonies of what God is doing to perform His word or His promises, to build faith. We also thought that people who are going through difficult times can ask for wisdom from someone who has already been through it – thinking specifically of things like divorce or death of a loved one or financial ruin. And, the responses to these posts should be from people who have been there and done that and have some wisdom about how to get through it.

In the Prayer forum, we can pray for one another in faith, believing God to move on their behalf. James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

The Warfare and Deliverance forum is for the purpose of dealing with bondages and attacks from the enemy.

The Conference forum can be helpful if you plan to attend a conference to find out if others in your area are coming and that you could buddy-up on transportation or lodging or have a sense of not being a total stranger when you get here.

The Fellowship forum is an off-topic forum where people can tell about themselves and learn about others to perhaps form relationships with each other by finding common ground.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions. Thanks for writing!
