It seems that the Lord is going to bring us into a season in which we will recover the things that we have lost. He said, “The promises that I have given you will bring you into a time of the recovery of all things – all things that you have lost. You are coming into a season of promise, which will bring the recovery of all things that the enemy has taken.”
The Lord has brought us into a Joseph Covenant. Joseph’s life represents a time of recovery that comes because of God’s favor. April through June will be the beginning of God’s favor according to this covenant – a time of advancement, accomplishment and prosperity. It is a time in which to recover our spiritual destiny like Joseph did.
If these things are true, then restoration has been promised. “You will recover all that the enemy has taken.” How will that come about? God will give you favor according to the patterns in scripture.
Joseph remained faithful to God. This is our first priority – to be faithful to God and His word and the direction given by the Holy Spirit.
David’s Dilemma David had remained faithful to God after he received Samuel’s promise that he would be king. Even though it did not look like that would be the case. David was still hiding from Saul when he and his men established their home in a place called Ziklag (which means “enveloped in grief”). Grief because of Saul’s persecution and because of the devil’s attacks and theft of David’s goods and people.
Ziklag 1 Samuel 30: 1 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, 2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.
1. Remain faithful 2. Stay strong in the Lord when crisis comes, and continue to believe God. 1 Samuel 30:7-8 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, "Please bring the ephod here to me." And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?" And He answered him, "Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all."
3. Seek God’s direction. 4. Follow God’s directives (instruction). Go, fight, and recover all!
1 Samuel 30: 9 So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the Brook Besor, where those stayed who were left behind. 10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor.
17 Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. 18 So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. 19 And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all. 20 Then David took all the flocks and herds they had driven before those other livestock, and said, "This is David’s spoil."
And, David recovered all because in spite of the crisis and adversity, he remained faithful to God. He stayed strong in the Lord. He sought God’s counsel, and he went to war.
Don’t be one of those who has no spiritual strength and has to stay behind while others take the spoil.
Besor means “good tidings”. God on and cross over into the good tidings (greeting of promise), and you will surely recover all.
Grace and favor to defeat the enemy and his curses against you both generational and personal. Defeat besetting sins, bondages, long-standing fears, illness and disease. Defeat lukewarmness and apathy.
Encourage yourself in the Lord. Stir up the gift of the Holy Spirit.
1. Break Curses – generational, personal and corporate 2. Overcome besetting sins – strongholds of bondage 3. Refuse to entertain fear or worry 4. Shake yourself awake from apathy – lukewarmness 5. Pray for healing of body, soul and spirit
