I asked this same question once. It took me 5 years to learn the answer. I will help avoid the long journey we had to walk on to find this.
The HOH is located in the tabernacle and for the most part is in represented in every single temple of God, all seven (eight if you count Ezekial's) to be exact. In order to understand and how to get there, you must first understand that God lives in three room house. In other words, the Tabernacle itself is the key to unlocking the vast majority of prophetic language. By all means study this diligently.
Since there are three rooms, we see a pattern. The pattern of threes is all throughout the bible. Over 400 patterns in the OT, and maybe like 75 in the new. With a little thoughtful consideration, you will quickly see that all the threes have an order. The order in which they are given match the order of the tabernacle. The first item corresponds to the outer court, the second item corresponds to the Holy Place and the third Item reflects the Holy of Holies. So let me give you some examples.
1,2,3 - Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit. - The third of the threes is where the power is really at. It is where the finished work of Christ is found. It is the means to our completion.
1,2,3 These three things remain, faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love. - That one is obvious.
1,2,3 - Father, son, holy spirit.
1,2,3 - Body, soul, spirit - This represents the three courts of the tabernacle.
1,2,3 - In him we live, move, and have our being - and if any man BE in Christ, he is a new creature. -- Oooops, I thought we were a new creature when we said the sinner's prayer....now I'm messing.
1,2,3 - Things which were, which are, and which shall be......I guess there is a timing to the HOH too, huh?
Ok, so you get the idea. The HOH is more than just an experience in God. It is the life of God. He is the way, the truth, and the Life - There it is again. So the pattern is clear, and to get in there is really about life in the spirit.
So we see John in Revelation and he was "in the spirit on the Lord's day". When he turns around to see who is speaking, he sees the Christ standing among the churches, or 'candlesticks' - This makes little sense apart from the understanding of the tabernacle of Moses. The candlesticks are found in the second room, the Holy Place. John is one room further on the journey, since he is looking behind himself. It shows us the meaning of church and that there is a whole dimension beyond the preparation of the church that we must come to--- i.e. the spirit. Of course, the room beyond the church room (Holy Place) is the Holy of Holies. When we understand this, we understand how John was able to see such a panoramic view of time and the plan of God.
So you asked how to get there. Easy. Follow the three easy steps that God gave all men.
1 - Passover - Outer court - Alter of burnt offering and living sacrifices , feast of Passover, you must be saved by the blood of the lamb.
2 - Pentecost, Inner Court - Alter of Incense, praise and worship, Feast of Weeks, be filled with the spirit and learn obedience to His voice,
3 - Tabernacles, Holy of Holies - The Mercy Seat (which is an alter) - Feast of Tabernacles, this is where we cease from our labors as God did his - we enter the rest that they in the desert failed to enter. This is where the saint is actually beheaded so that you take on the mind of Christ - This culminates in eternal life.
The pattern is clear, you can't jump over the fence for the same is a thief and a robber. You must come in the gate, which is called the "Way". Notice that all the things we do in church has not helped us come to the Holy of Holies. You can't get there in a prayer line or in an intercession circle as so many believe. Sorry, but I tried it. For years and years. Had awesome visitations, but I was left always looking for more.
In the outer court, you have visitation. In the Holy Place you have manifestation. In the HOH you have habitation, that is why it lines up with the Feast of Tabernacles. Wouldn't you like to be a habitation for the Lord? Are you not already a temple of the Holy Spirit by virtue of your room #2 experience? If the answer is yes, then we must take on the mind of Christ.
This mind (inner court) of Christ is being in 100% agreement with Christ. This surpasses our obedience (outer court) which is not perfect. It is the "be ye not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by a renewing of your mind". Remember, I said body soul, spirit? When God moves, he moves from the center outward (opposite order), or from the holy of holies to the gate where Moses met him (from west to east where the garden was). So likewise, he first touches our spirit man in salvation. Then he renews our mind through sanctification, and lastly, we overcome physical death through glorification. Once the mind is in agreement with God (and ultimately his law) we are prepared to move on, even to the transformation of the total man.
There are many who will tell you they have been there, but their experience is only in part. That is the Holy Place because the spirit was given as an earnest of things to come. There are great experiences in the second room, but that is not the fullness of our salvation, which is what we are talking about today.
