"Cast off the garments of old, My people, for this is a new day, and it is time to change your garments. I have come to give you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. It is time for you to remove the cloak of unworthiness and wear robes of righteousness. No longer allow the enemy to clothe you with condemnation. No longer allow the words of man to become curses that hold you in bondage. No longer wear garments defiled by your unpleasant circumstances. It is time to cast off the old and put on the new, says the Lord."

Joseph's Coat of Many Colors:

This time of Joseph's covenant will be a release of the Joseph's in the Church. Joseph was a favored son. His father gave him a coat of many colors, which was a prophetic symbol of Joseph's circumstances that would release Joseph into his destiny. The multi-colored coat first represented God's covenant with Joseph (like the colors in a rainbow). The coat represented that fact that God would be with him on his journey through adversity and into his destiny.

The coat also represented the many voices that would speak against Joseph and thereby release curses against him. Joseph's brothers sold him into captivity, but they unknowingly covered Joseph's journey and his destiny with a blood sacrifice.
Genesis 37:31-32 So they took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood. Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, "We have found this. Do you know whether it is your son's tunic or not?"

Joseph was sold to Potiphar whose wife falsely accused him of sexual misconduct. She tore the garment from Joseph's body.
Genesis 39:11-13 But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, that she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. And so it was, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside.

We can begin to see that our circumstances can change the garments that we wear, but we must not forget that we have a covenant with God and that He is with us.

Joseph was then given prison clothes to wear, but after two years (the third year) he once again changed his garments and moved into the fulfillment of his destiny.
Genesis 41:1 Then it came to pass, at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh had a dream; and behold, he stood by the river.

Genesis 41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh.

Joseph then interpreted Pharaoh's dream, and Pharaoh appointed him second in command of the kingdom.

Genesis 41:38-42 And Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?" Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. "You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you." And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph's hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

Joseph was now wearing the clothes of a king and a signet ring, which authorized him to do business for Pharaoh.

Robes of Righteousness

It is time for a change of garments. The dress of this day is fine linen. This is the dress of the kings (Bride) of this age.
Revelation 19:7-9 "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."

You might be one who has been worn down by your circumstances, and you don't believe you can change your garments. Let me show you a pattern in the scriptures on the how-to part:

The Garment of Praise

Paul and Silas were about the Father's business when they cast a spirit of divination out of a slave girl. This upset the girl's owner, who incited a riot against God's servants.
Acts 16:22-24 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

Please notice that Paul and Silas had some help by their circumstances that removed their clothes. But, they put on the garment of praise.
Acts 16:25-26 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.

The garment of praise loosed everyone's chains; the jailer and his family got saved, and Paul and Silas were set free from prison. Cast off the spirit of heaviness and put on the garment of praise, and you too will be set free.

The Garment of Healing

Do you need healing in your body? Then, cast off the garment of sickness. That is what blind Bartimaeus did.
Mark 10:46-50 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you." And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.

There it is ... cast out the spirit of infirmity. Cast off the cloak of doubt and unbelief. Come to Jesus in faith, and touch the hem of His garment.
Luke 8:43-44 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
Touch the Master's garment, for it is filled with the anointing of God, and the anointing will break the yoke of sickness, and you shall be made whole!

Waters Bound In A Garment

The water that we are talking about is the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus has given us (see John 7:37-39). Agur asked a question, which we know the answer to:
Proverbs 30:4 Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name, If you know?
Our heavenly Father has bound the waters (anointing of the Holy Spirit) in His Son's garment.
Acts 10:38 "...how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
And, on the Day of Pentecost the Lord gave this same Holy Spirit of power to those who ask for Him. "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you..."

The Elijah Garment

The hearts of the spiritual fathers (Elijah's) are being turned to their spiritual sons (Elisha's) in these last days (see Malachi 4:5-6). Elisha was serving Elijah and being trained by him. Elisha was watching Elijah's every move and following him wherever he went. Elisha asked for the double portion anointing, and Elijah said, "If you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you." I believe that Elijah was saying that if you can see where I go in the Spirit, then you can have the anointing that you desire.
2 Kings 2:9-14 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me." So he said, "You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so." Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces. He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, "Where is the LORD God of Elijah?" And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.

Elisha changed his garments, and the mantle of Elijah, which he then wore, became the symbol of his power. Elisha struck the waters of Jordan, and the waters were bound in his garment. The Jordan River was where Jesus Christ was baptized in the Holy Spirit. In the waters of Jordan the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus.
Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

The water is now bound in the Master's garment, and on the Day of Pentecost He dropped His mantle upon His Church. It is now for us to follow Elisha's lead. Will we discard our old garments and pick up the mantle of Christ? This is the day of His power, and it is time to change our garments and be about the Father's business. It is time to put on Christ (the anointed One and His anointing). It is time to rule as joint heirs, as the kings of this day. It is time to be done with the old, and dress ourselves in the power of this day. Amen.
